Interpreting the meaning of a Diaspora through emotive abstract brushstrokes and textures, I wanted to capture and convey the burdens of trying to find one's identity in a new country. To achieve these organic shapes and textures, I used a calligraphy brush and a toothbrush dipped in calligraphy ink. Original drawings are done on tracing paper then scanned and cleaned up on Photoshop. After editing the drawings, I start arranging the shapes and textures on a 18" x 25" layout.
Although the ultimate result is digital, I wanted to screenprint them for fun!
